SLIDE ROCK STATE PARK – ARIZONA 2017

SLIDE ROCK STATE PARK is in Oak Creek Canyon and is 7 miles north of Sedona.  It’s located on a 43 acre historic apple farm.  SLIDE ROCK is about 80 feet long and 2 to 4 feet wide.   Also it gets it’s name from the slippery water slide like rocks.   SLIDE ROCK is a very popular tourist attraction and  made the list of TOP 10 SWIMMING HOLES IN THE UNITED STATES from the TRAVEL CHANNEL.  Admission to the park is $30.00 per vehicle during the summer and less other times of the year.   The summer time is very HOT here while in the 80’s and 90’s while the winter time gets very cold with temperatures below 30 and lots of snow.[metaslider id=2241]

The day we arrived at SLIDE  ROCK it was raining and the wind was blowing so it was cooler than normal.  When we went to pay we were told that the park would be closing if lightening was in the area.  We decided to take our chances and enter anyway because we wouldn’t get another change to experience the slide.  We parked and ran down to the water.  It was a long way and the rain had us soaked so water slide wasn’t cold at all.  We went down the slide 5 or 6 times and watched kids jump from the high rocks.   I had lots of fun.  It’s a great place to picnic and spend the day with family.  By the way, when we decided to leave it stopped raining. Remember to bring your swimsuit. Water shoes are a must have for here. Here’s some water shoes if you are looking for some.

I brought my under water camera with me and really enjoyed using it here. The first one here is mine.
