Majesty of the Sea – Day 1

We had no intentions of going on a cruise in July till an offer came our way that we couldn’t pass up. A FREE CRUISE!! All we had to pay would be taxes and port fees. So we booked it …….a 5 night on the MAJESTY of the SEA out of Ft Lauderdale.  We were so exited that we went out and bought new luggage.  We couldn’t wait to pack our bags and cameras. If you need new luggage check this 2 piece on spinners, we love it.

Day 1 was interesting. We were about 1 1/2 hours late leaving Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale because the health inspector showed up to inspect the ship. I guess the ship passed because when he was done we were on our way.

The Majesty of the Sea first sailed in 1992. It is registered in the Bahamas. At one time it was the largest ship Royal Caribbean had but alot has changed throughout the years. The Majesty carries 2767 passengers and 912 crew members. She has 1193 state rooms with 5% being balconies.

The Majesty was renovated in 2016 and is a beautiful ship. We spent the 1st day exploring the ship. It’s much smaller than the new ships. The middle of the ship had lots of entertainment. There are 4 bars/lounges, 4 complimentary dining areas, and 2 specialty dining rooms.

Our room was an interior room on the 6th floor. It was small like most ship cabins. The ship is a little choppy so we were challenged trying to find our room. The 6th floor disappears on part of the ship.

The casino is on the 5th floor so it was very convenient. It seems small; however, the table games seem huge. We played some slots after exploring. Bring lots of money to play. It’s helpful to bring a lanyard for your key/card. If you play in the casino it’s nice to have your key/card on a lanyard so you don’t leave it in a game. It’s a pain going to customer service for a new one.

Look at all the people in the pool. This is one of the 2 pools. The other one has a small kids slide area. Remember your swimsuit. The sports area is on the top floor. You can find a rock wall, 1/2 basketball count, shuffle board, ping-pong table, and more here. You will need closed toe shoes for the rock wall. The Majesty also has a spa and fitness center, jogging track, 2 whirlpools, outdoor movie screen, art/photo gallery, video arcade, and medical center. If you get sea sick make sure to pack your motion sickness supplies so you don’t end up in the medical center.

After exploring a bit we had dinner in the Windjammer which is the buffet.

That’s about it for day 1. Stay tuned for Day 2.
