DOLLYWOOD

My favorite amusement park ever and I live in Orlando .  DOLLYWOOD is located in Pigeon Forge , Tennessee and owned by Dolly Parton.  DOLLYWOOD sits on 150 acres and has more than 40 rides, 15 shows, 5 large festivals, southern dining, and the friendliest employees in the world.  The park opened in 1982 and has grown ever since. At DOLLYWOOD if you enter after 3pm the next day is FREE!   Admission is $68.00 each.  So that’s a day and 1/2 for $68.00.  This park is so neat and clean.

Our 1st day we entered the park after 3pm so we got the next day FREE.  When we entered the park the photographer took a few pictures of us and we started exploring the park.  Being that we were staying at DOLLYWOOD’S DREAMMORE RESORT we had the time-saver pass and didn’t have to wait in any lines.  The park has 8 roller coasters and many, many other rides.  All of the rides were awesome but I’m a roller coaster girl and I was in heaven.  DOLLYWOOD had a new coaster that was still doing test rides and I got to be a test dummy!  It’s called the LIGHTNING ROD.  It’s the 1st ever wooden launch roller coaster and the fastest wooden roller coaster in the world.  Top speed is 73mph with a 165 foot drop.  They say that riders get 20 seconds of airtime but I swear its longer if you get the back seat.  This coaster isn’t rough like most wooden roller coasters.  As the park was closing we took the shuttle back to the resort.

The next day we picked up where we left off.  We started by riding our favorite rides again and seeing some shows that we had missed the first day.  We wanted some pictures taken in other locations throughout the park; so we ask if they had photographers in other places in the park or only at the gate.  The lady we asked said that she could walk with us and take pictures anywhere we wanted.  How awesome!  We had her take a few pictures then we let her go.  We got a BBQ sandwich in the park that was very good.  As the day continued the weather started to get bad.  They said it was the worst rain storm in the history of the park.  It was so bad that they closed the park and gave us all tickets to return the next day FREE.  They also extended our photo package to continue the next day.  They made it clear that they wanted not only all guest but also their employees to get home or somewhere dry and safe.[metaslider id=997]

The weather was fine the next day.  We spent a few hours at DOLLYWOOD that morning riding some more rides.    If you ever have the opportunity to go to DOLLYWOOD, GO!!   You will not be disappointed.

One more important thing….. when we were at DOLLYWOOD they were building a CALMING ROOM for families of kids with sensory disorders. What a great thing to offer families!!  And it’s now open!

Make sure you take a backpack to the park for things like dry clothes, dry shoes, phone chargers, rain poncho, and cameras.
