ISLAND HOUSE INN – Englewood, Florida

A couple of weeks ago I visited a new resort or at least it was new for me. It was time to take a trip down south to go shark teething. There were 3 of us going so I was looking for a 1 bedroom apartment. The places I normally go didn’t have any 1 bedrooms available. So here’s a new adventure for me…..I found it at [booking_product_helper shortname=”book123″]

As many people know my favorite beach in the world is MANASOTA KEY BEACH and since I couldn’t find any rooms there I decided to look just down the coast about 7 miles in Englewood.

O

Online I found the ISLAND HOUSE INN. I got a little confused because there was also a place called Island Beach House. They are near each other. One on the beach and the other is close. When I called to ask questions about the resort I had booked I was told it was a short walk to the beach and I was fine with that and excited to be going. Then 2 days before check in i called to see if we could get an early check in when I was told that our room was about a 5 minute walk to the beach. As you can imagine I was quite disappointed to be that far from the beach. I don’t see 5 minutes being a short walk. Anyway this guy I was speaking with said he had something a little closer to the beach and he would upgrade us for FREE to a 2 bedroom apartment. It was beautiful on the inside. It was very plain on the outside but the inside had been refurnished and had up graded appliances. It had 1 bedroom with a queen bed, the other had 2 twins, full kitchen, free parking, free wifi, and some shark tooth equipment.

Long story short….it was only a minute walk to the beach. We had 1 house between us and the beach. It was great… HOWEVER…we could not find any shark teeth on that beach so we drove back to Manasota Key Beach and as you can see from these pictures our luck was pretty good.

The only bad thing about this weekend was red tide. It smelt bad, some dead fish, and the water was brown. The area we were in was at a medium level and I just heard that they are at a high level this week. I can’t imagine how horrible that is.

So back to the resort… I booked a 1 bedroom apartment at the ISLAND HOUSE INN for 2 nights for $275.52 through booking.com.

I use a shark tooth rake or some call it a sand rake.  Also here are some other helpful items.  I love sifters.
